What is MBM?

Mitrea Balance Model is a highly successful method of healing the physical body by using the path of least resistance. This re-balancing method for the physical body is conceptually innovative but it is based on long forgotten knowledge about healing and health. Obeying the Universal Laws that facilitate healing, this model enables the restoration of posture, functionality and strength in a fast and efficient manner. This model can be used by all professionals working with the human body as well as by athletes and anyone who want to understand how their bodies move, learn, heal and function with ease. The techniques and protocols of the model can be used as a core program in healing, training, performing and anytime the physical body needs to be rebalanced.

Rucsandra Mitrea developed this method based on her many years of studies in movement modalities and therapies, anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, somatherapy and osteopathic manual treatment. Her 20 years of continuous work with clients of all ages and in various states of physical fitness and health led to the evolution of a method that is precise, clear and effective. The powerful results she has had with her clients using the techniques and protocols she has developed, led her to create the Mitrea Balance Model Training Program for Professionals that can be used by Pilates and yoga instructors, physical therapists, personal trainers, dance teachers, martial arts trainers and other professionals working with the human body.

During this training the participants learn a new way of looking at the human body and a fresh understanding of the relationships that exist amongst its structures. They get to practice and feel the techniques at work on themselves first. This is a transformative process that will enhance the ability to work with the human body, that will enrich the teaching experience, new modalities to create trusting relationships with their clients, to respect the client’s process and to respond from a place of clarity and knowledge.

Returning to Youthful Spine II

By Rucsandra Mitrea

Belief Systems

In Part I of this series of articles regarding the spine, I explored the concept of Whole Body Health and the belief systems as one aspect of the process of sustaining or attaining

physical health.  We know that this is not a new idea because we had access to some of the writings left by our ancestors. The concept goes back to the times of Ayurveda, ancient Chinese Medicine and Native Indian Medicine to name just a few.  “The ones who came before us” (as Gregg Braden refers to our forerunners) knew that the physical health of the human body depends on the understanding of the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical aspects of ourselves. Whole Body Health

When it comes to dealing with the spine and its health, we find ourselves trapped in fear and misconceptions. We’re scared by terms like degenerative disc disease, protruding discs, kyphosis and scoliosis.

We’re also confused by a term like injury prevention and aren’t sure what it really means. We are guided to do some exercises, but discouraged to do others. We are told that some of the discomfort we might feel is due to the aging process. We are told to take anti-inflammatory and pain killers and to limit our movement until the discomfort subsides. And if we have actually suffered a spinal injury, we feel that we’ve been sentenced to a long and hard recovery and sometimes to a lifetime of pain. Continue reading

THE BODY SCAN

by Rucsandra Mitrea

No equipment and no special location are necessary in order to do a body scan. Start by sitting on a chair or on the floor and quickly assess if there is any tension anywhere in your body; feel how your head sits on your neck and if your shoulders are relaxed or not. Do not judge or try to explain what you feel, just gather the information your body is offering to you.

Next lie down and start breathing, inhaling and exhaling through the nose. Keep your knees bent or straight, depending on what feels more comfortable for your body. Start feeling that your body is becoming very heavy and allow your muscles to relax. This is not a relaxation exercise, even though you will feel more relaxed at the end of it. It is a body scan: you are gathering information about how your body feels as a whole and how everything in your body feels as separate entities. This exercise will allow you to create a partnership between the body and the mind in order to exercise your body in a more conscious context.

Pay attention to the following:

  • Are you able to inhale and exhale effortlessly and evenly? Is it harder to inhale or exhale? Keep breathing until you feel more ease and the rhythm of your breath becomes slower and calmer.
  • Where do you feel most of the tension? Are you in any kind of pain? Are you uncomfortable in any way?
  • Next move your awareness to the neck and head and release any tension that you might feel. Think of gravity working for your benefit this time and acting upon every bone, muscle and structure in your neck, throat, face and head.
  • Continue by allowing gravity to take over your rib cage and all the organs inside it.
  • Next move your awareness to your abdomen, pelvis and lower back.
  • Finish the scan with your hips, shoulders, arms and legs.

The body scan can last from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on how experienced you are in listening to your body. Remain at each step for as long as it feels appropriate. Remember that your body will guide you in a way that your mind cannot.

Maintain this state of heightened awareness and assess how your body feels and what levels of tension you are still carrying in the body. Gently sit up and pay attention to how you feel compared to the beginning of the body scan. Take this information into your workout session and use it to align your body better, to modify the weight load, the number of repetitions and the length of your workout according to your present body needs.

As you become more aware of the signals coming from the body you will be able to increase the efficiency of all your physical activities and you will become less prone to get injured.

The integration of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of ourselves is what will lead us towards optimal health and well being. Learning to do a body scan is one important step towards this integration.

BODY AWARENESS

How many times do you begin your workouts with an internal body scan? Do you breathe and feel how your body is doing in that particular moment? Do you take a few minutes to get in touch with your own body and then start your workout from an informed perspective?

If you do, than you know that this is maybe the most important part of a workout or training session.

If you do not, then it is time to start exercising your body in a more conscious manner. At this point you might ask why such a step is necessary or even dismiss it from the start as a waste of time and stop reading the remainder of the article. If you feel compelled to do just that, I will ask you to remember a time when you got injured during a workout or a running or cycling session.

With the understanding that learning to listen to the physical body is of utmost importance for every day life, general health and well being, learning to do a body scan is of equal importance. Knowing what feels tight, weak or out of alignment before engaging in any physical activity will influence the workout routine, its duration and its intensity.

Working out within the paradigm of respect and cooperation with the body will lead to faster results. Most importantly, working out while understanding the signals and messages coming from the body will prevent most of the injuries acquired due to lack of awareness.

In the next post I will guide you through a body scan.

Breathing and Your Spine

by Rucsandra  Mitrea

Can breathing exercises improve the condition of your spine and relieve pain? Is it possible to use the mechanisms of breathing in order to help correct the alignment of the spine and release tension in the body?

I believe that it is not only possible but extremely efficient. Working for 20 years with the human body and continuosly studying the intricacies of the physical body, the subtleties of the emotional body and the power of the human energy field led me to develop my own protocols (Mitrea Balance Model) for rebalancing and realigning the physical body. Breathing techniques and exercises represent an important part in the programs I create for my clients. The targeted and specifically directed breathing techniques and exercises that I have developed have the power to release tension at the level of the connective tissue (the fascia), the muscular system, as well as at the level of the nervous system, resulting in an almost immediate response in the joints of the body. From that point on, the body is more receptive to build strength, to stretch and to heal.

Can breathing exercises help you heal physical pain, release unwanted emotions and rebalance your energy field? Absolutely!

Employ the healing power of breath in your own life! Let go of what does not serve you any more. Your physical, mental and emotional systems will benefit immensely from the MBM breathing techniques.

ELECTROSMOG…DIRTY ELECTRICITY…ARE WE AWARE OF THESE HIDDEN DANGERS?

I want to help raise the awareness in my immediate circle of friends and clients, so that they can help their families, friends and clients understand what electrosmog means and how dirty electricity can affect our health.

One of the speakers at the MediConsult Lifestyle Conference I attended last weekend was Dr. Magda Havas. Magda Havas is Associate Professor of Environmental & Resource Studies at Trent University where she teaches and does research on the biological effects of environmental contaminants. Dr. Havas received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, completed Post-Doctoral research at Cornell University, and taught at the University of Toronto before going to Trent University in Peterborough, Canada.

OPENING UP TO GREATER POSSIBILITIES

By Rucsandra Mitrea

Master yogis perform the physically challenging and exhausting yoga routines daily. Why do they need the physical aspect, since they have already know about their stable and continuous connection with the Divine? Why is it that they do not let go of their physical bodies in order to focus only on their purely spiritual practices?

Because they know that it is all one! Because they understand that physical blockages, misalignments and weaknesses will impede their capacity to connect with their Higher Selves and with the Divine.

Some of the spiritual people I’ve had conversations with over the last few years believe that the physical body is not of great importance and they continue to focus solely on their energetic beings, on their auras and chakras and spiritual connections with higher realms. Sometimes their physical bodies suffer, because they have been neglected for a very long time.

Coming from the other end of the spectrum, the people who are deeply and mainly rooted in the physical realm are focusing only on their physical reality, without knowing or simply just ignoring the fact that we are more than physical beings. They sometimes feel alone, discouraged and afraid because they cannot yet connect with their greater powers and strengths.

The time has come to treat all the aspects of who we are with equal respect, attention and reverence. We inhabit a physical body, but we are so much more.  We cannot continue to ignore the wholeness of our existence. Now is the time to remember who we are and create a world to match our sacred nature.

Understanding who we truly are will allow us to change our inner world and then expand our knowledge into our immediate world, to our friends, families, co-workers and everyone we come in contact with. Through this process we will start pouring our creative and positive powers into the whole world and our combined efforts will resonate, amplified and expanded across the Earth.

We must start with ourselves! There is no way around it and there is no cause nobler and more worthy of our efforts than becoming aware and living with the realization of our true nature.

We have five bodies or aspects of who we are, each one a powerful mirror reflecting the state of balance and integration of all five:

  • The Physical Body
  • The Emotional Body – the Emotions
  • The Mental Body – the Mind
  • The Energetic Body – the Aura
  • The Spiritual Body – the Soul

There are many methods and teachings at our disposal today that can help us become aware of the true nature of who we are.

Whether we choose to start at the physical level by taking care of our bodies, or learn more about our spiritual nature, all we need to do is open up to greater possibilities in that chosen realm and desire to see more.

Deciding to open a door to this understanding will change our human experience. It will allow us to live in expansion, with joy and freedom and this energy will resonate, reverberate and propagate throughout our world.
